Project Summary

We were first approached by Dek’d Down for product photography. With little to no product imagery, the client needed their most popular SKUs, forty-one items, in two color ways and one additional style, imaged for immediate use across various channels.

Challenge

One of the client’s “wants” was to exhibit their product, in-use, applied to each cooler they’re designed for. Meaning, 123 images needed to feature a Yeti cooler, requiring forty-one different Yeti coolers. An easy production for us but a financial burden for the client.

Solution

Our team saw this as a great opportunity to leverage 3D modeling and rendering. We could achieve similar results with greater longterm value for our client. An image created in-camera can only ever be that image, but a 3D project file can be rendered in an infinite number of scenarios. For the cooler images, our team utilized their post-production expertise to composite 3D renders with Yeti’s 2D product images. This not only creates a more visually accurate image for Dek’d Down’s customers, but allowed our team to incorporate a signature lighting scheme; creating a fully unique image. This was also a leaner approach than the alternative method of modeling each cooler for a totally 3D image. The final results were product images that elevated the visual identity of Dek’d Down; standing out among their competitors.
